McArdle Skeath Milestones

In 1968, Michael McArdle bought his first lorry and startedhis business venture in offering a reliable transportation service. 51 yearson, the business has grown dramatically and is now a trusted partner amongstIrish exporters providing integrated logistics solutions for the food,pharmaceutical and dry goods sectors throughout Ireland, UK and continentalEurope. These specialist services include transport, temperature-controlleddistribution and storage.

The McArdle family opened their first premises in Inniskeen,Co. Louth in 1974 offering warehousing services at the request of our existingclient base. In 1980 McArdle Skeath grew to service the EU marketplace, and in1988 our warehousing portfolio extended to 7,000 pallet spaces.

The 1990s saw the business move into quality management dueto their increasing nutritional customer base, and in 1998 value-addedsolutions and quality assurance programmes commenced. Following this themillennium marked a major milestone for the business, as it was grantedlicensing and approval from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

In 2008 McArdle Transport Ltd acquired Skeath RefrigeratedTransport Ltd, with a rebrand to McArdle Skeath, representing a diversificationinto temperature-controlled logistics.

The family business was granted a Known Consignor licensefrom the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) in 2009, and a Wholesaler Distribution Authorisation was issued bythe Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) in 2010.

In 2015 McArdle Skeath acquired a 21-acre site to develop ournew facility in Hollystown, Dublin 15, building work commenced in 2016 andfacility officially opened in June 2018 bringing our storage capacity to justunder 50,000 pallet spaces. This further widened McArdle Skeath’s portfolio ofservices with a diversification into temperature-controlled warehousingoffering a multi-temperature storage facility purpose built to service thepharmaceutical and medical device sectors.

In 2018 we celebrated the official opening by An Taoiseach,Leo Varadkar, of our new warehousing facility in Hollystown, Dublin 15. 2018also marks McArdle Skeath’s 50th year in business and we won’t stop there.McArdle Skeath have ambitious plans to double capacity over the coming years.
